TO HOST WITH OUR FREE WEB HOSTING SOLUTION IS TO PURCHASE A BRAND
NEW DOMAIN NAME THROUGH US FOR A PERIOD OF EXACTLY 2 YEARS.
If you still wish to transfer your domain name to us, please follow
the guidlelines laid out below so that you can perform domain name
administration through the BootBox Control Center. If your domain
name is not purchased through us or transferred to us, you will not
have the ability to perform domain administration through the BootBox
Control Center.
Please Note: YOU MUST TRANSFER YOUR
DOMAIN NAME THROUGH THIS PROCESS! PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE PAGE BEFORE
TRANSFERRING.
If you did not register a domain name through Register.Com, or this
site, you must transfer it through this process, which carries a $70
fee from Register.Com for a 2 year domain name. We are not charging
our users twice, since this is a Register.Com transfer fee. Also,
the fee does not take away any years you have already paid for, it
simply adds 2 more years to your domain name. Think of it as renewing
your domain name earlier than expected and getting a tremendous service
for doing so.
Please make sure to follow these instructions.
Click on the button below to begin the registration process, and make
sure to follow the instructions on this page exactly as written
so your domain will be setup correctly. This button will open up another
browser window so that you can still see the instructions on this
page during the registration process.
First you need to click on transfer/changes. Then select transfer
registrar. Follow all of the instructions on that page and send in
the appropriate documentation to Register.Com. In addition to sending
the documents into Register.Com, you will need to send them to BootBox,
by way of an e-mail attachment sent to info@bootbox.net.
Please make sure that you transfer for a 2 year domain name.
No more, No less. Again, the charge for this is the standard $70.
Our registration application and web spider will be marking domain's
against register.com's database and if you have not registered for
a 2 year domain there could be major problems with your website.
All of the information including name servers
and technical contact information will automatically be filled in
for you. We make this process easy as all you will have to do is register
the name and that's it!
We want our users to understand that this is not a BootBox charge.
BootBox never charges for any service it provides. This is a Register.Com
charge that is issued due to legal costs and transferring arrangements
that need to be made due to ICANN regulations. We have also been getting
e-mails asking us how we can say our services are free and yet there
is a $70 transfer fee. Please note that BootBox is not a registrar.
Nowhere on the entire BootBox site does it ever mention free domain
names.
We mandate the transfer to not only comply with our alliance contracts,
but to also have a single point of administration. If we allowed people
to purchase their domains wherever they chose, and then host with
us things would be a mess.
If for any reason we needed to make a change in our server name, bring
a new server online, or change an IP address, we would have to send
out tens of thousands of e-mail letting people know the current situation
and then field tons of support calls for people who had no idea how
to apply the changes. Also, everyone who applied the changes we be
without their website until those changes took effect 3-5 days later.
With our single point of administration, BootBox has the ability to
make changes and not affect our users in any way. We also make sure
that if something is changed on our end there is little or no downtime
for our users.
It usually takes a week or so to get your domain name transferred,
so that you are up and running.
